Tonya Larissa Cooper is an American beauty pageant titleholder and staffer in the U.S. Senate. She is the current Miss District of Columbia, and will represent the District of Columbia at the 1st Miss USA Competition.

Life and careerEdit

Early lifeEdit

Cooper was born in Potomac, Maryland to parents Reginald and Denise Cooper (née Belcher). Her father is of African-American heritage, while her maternal grandparents are Haitian. Reginald works as an attorney, while Denise works for a non-governmental organization. Cooper grew up with two older brothers, Jeffrey and Owen, who are both lawyers.

Cooper attended private schooling growing up. She graduated from Bullis School, as her class's valedictorian. After graduating, she began studying political science at American University in Washington, D.C.. She later received her master's degree in political science from Georgetown University. Cooper works as a staffer in the U.S. Senate.

PageantryEdit

Cooper began her pageantry career while competing in the 1st Miss District of Columbia Competition. She went on to win the competition, becoming Miss District of Columbia, also winning Miss Congeniality. She will now represent the District of Columbia in the 1st Miss USA Competition.
